A programme consists of a number of modules and combines workshops, online studies, and on-the-job application work.

The different modules are designed and structured to work together to achieve a central objective, e.g. to produce a suitably competent Portfolio Manager or Business Development Advisor.
The need for career-linked programmes is based on the following assumptions:
  • Achieving a certain level of basic competence in any occupation requires more than just one workshop.classroom
  • If the sector wants to draw, grow and keep practitioners it needs to establish careers and career progression opportunities; this will require formalised learning programmes
  • In order to professionalise occupations and careers in the sector there need to be agreed standards for and levels of competence. Structured learning programmes will assist practitioners to achieve these competence standards and will reduce the time and cost to do so.
Career-linked learning programmes are to a large degree standardised and have pre-scheduled dates.

Career-linked programmes are also developed for occupational groups outside of the SME risk finance sector, e.g. for franchise owners and managers. In such cases the franchisor’s specific training are integrated by Optima with our business management and leadership workshops into a coherent programme. This has proven to be a very effective model to standardise practices in a franchise group and to provide the necessary training where a franchisor often do not have the time or capacity to do it in-house.
